Uniform Commercial Code (UCC)
When lending money to a borrower by use of a Secured Promissory Note, require that the borrower file a Uniform Commercial Code form (UCC-1) in the state of the recorded loan. Each state requires that a UCC form be filed to make the collateral of the loan public record in case of default.
